Ezzo Sausage Company was founded in 1978

Bill Ezzo moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend     The Ohio State University. Originally from Canastota, NY, John’s youngest son came to Ohio State on an athletic scholarship for track. He was later recruited for the Football team and played football under Woody Hayes. While in the area from NY, John Ezzo went to visit his brother in nearby North Vernon, Indiana. Once there he was asked to sell product for the North Vernon Ezzo operation, their product offering consisted of some Italian Sausage, and Sausage For Pizza.

John Ezzo soon was doing business with Domino’s commissaries in several states and business was good. Domino’s asked for Sausage For Pizza and the transition started for what is now the  Ezzo Sausage Company in Columbus, Ohio.    Mike Spicer – the Plant manager for the North Vernon operation was brought over to assist the Columbus facility, bringing many years of experience in dry cured sausage making.

.

Drying rooms and ovens were added in 1984, and the family recipe and procedures were developed into what is known today.

Eric Cherryholmes joined Ezzo Sausage in 1994. Constant work and dedication to refining the products drove sales. The Company metamorphed in 2001 and doubled the capacity by adding the facility pictured. This facility is managed by Ron Shirey.

Ron was recruited from within the industry in 2001 to manage our slicing plant. Ron, a graduate of The Ohio State University has been in the Meat Industry for over 25 years. We currently operate two facilities in Columbus, Ohio. We serve 13 states through a wide range of wholesale distributors.
